Porto San Giorgiois 20 mins away, east of the town runs a 3km long blu flag sandy beach, with excellent fish restuarants, weekly markets, lively summer eating events 'sagra's' like fates and many evening concerts. Once the ancient port for the inland town of Fermo and now is coastal resort, with a small working port. The main shopping streets and beach roads are blocked to traffic during the summer, creating a friendly and lively atmosphere allowing pedestrians and cyclist the chance to meander the streets. There are plenty of opportunities for window shopping, twice weekly markets selling an array of local shoes & leather goods, clothing, gifts and foods. In the early evening the town has a livelier feel, as Italian's meet for a chat and evening stroll. |

Monte Conero a paradise to the south of Ancona, and truly unique. Here you'll find rock caves, and white limestone cliffs totally unlike any other along the Adriatic coast. The panoramic road winding along the coast offers spectacular views of many beaches. The area is a regional natural park with a web of signed trails up to the peak. On the top, remains of Palaeolithic settlement dating back 100,000 years have been discovered - the earliest signs of human presence in the region. Walkers will be very please to find 18 paths and discover the park on foot, dominated by the typical Mediterranean vegetation which consist in pines, oaks, broom, and the rare lavender fields, the purple lock and scented fennel. The walks on foot, horseback or mountain bike can be made with the aid of a walker’s guide and path signs or accompanied by park guides.
