Weddings held at the Villa

A ceremony held at the villa provides a beautiful, panoramic and romantic setting by the

swimming pool, overlooking the mountains. It offers the surroundings and the intimacy

that will make your wedding day unforgettable.

Italian Civil Weddings

We offer a wedding package which includes a civil ceremony held under the

town castle, followed by exchange of vows by the pool, a celebrating aperitif

under the pool pergola, a 10 course banquet, fresh flowers and a classic car

with driver to take you to and from the town castle.

Italian Civil Wedding Ceremonies

Ceremonies with civil validity may be celebrated at the Town Hall or a historical building owned by the Municipality. The municipality of Ponzano di Fermo holds civil weddings in a picturesque room under the town castle. The Castle was built in the fifteenth century and underneath it, in a vaulted room, the mayor or its deputy celebrates the civil ceremony at a leisurely pace. After the ceremony you’ll have all the time for photographs and afterwards you will be driven back to the villa, which is only a few minutes from the town castle.

Documents required for British nationals

For British nationals wishing to be wed in Italy, the authorities require a Nulla Osta, a Consular Certificate of No Impediment, which may be obtained as follows:

If both parties are British Nationals residing in UK they must give notice of Marriage to their local UK Superintending Registrar. After 17-23 days of the publications of banns, the registry office releases a document (UK Certificate of No Impediment), which must be presented (the documentation can be anticipated electronically) to the competent Consular office where the marriage will take place. The following documents must be included:

  • Long Form of birth certificates (showing name of parents). Original document
  • Passport; first 5 pages of old format passport or last page of new European format
  • Consent of parent or guardian when under the age of 18
  • Evidence of termination of any previous marriage if applicable (i.e. death certificate or divorce decree absolute)
  • UK Certificate of No Impediment (when the banns are published in the UK)

Afterwards we will personally go to the consulate, take the original documentation and collect the Nulla Osta. This must be taken to the Italian Registry office in the municipality where the marriage will take place. Please note that your Certificate of No Impediment (Nulla Osta) issued by the Consular office will be valid for six months from the date on your UK CNI.

Paperwork requirements can differ slightly in the following cases and we recommend you contact the Office of Foreign Affaires in your country :

  • Both are British Citizens but not resident in the UK
  • a British National is marrying a non-British National, and resides in Italy
  • a British National is marrying a non-British National and resides in the UK (except Scotland)
  • a British National is marrying an Irish citizen and resides in the UK
  • a British National resides in Scotland

Italian Religious Wedding Ceremonies

A ‘Matrimonio Concordatario’ is a Roman Catholic wedding legally binding and recognised by the Italian authorities, because it contains a civil element within the service, therefore it will not be necessary to perform a separate civil ceremony. The ceremony will be performed in the local Roman Catholic Church, but first you will have to contact your local parish priest in the UK to help you prepare the necessary documents (in addition to the above mentioned Nulla Osta).

Ponzano di Fermo boasts a perfect location for a religious Roman Catholic wedding, in the splendid San Marco’s church which dates from the twelfth century. It’s a lovely, simple yet majestic church set amongst olives, on top of a hill just outside the village, it could not be more suggestive.

Weddings held at the villa

We can also arrange weddings according to Protestant Rite. In this case, the wedding can be held at the villa.

For this type of wedding we cooperate with an agency which will send an English speaking vicar to the villa.
